Eid Al-Adha (the feast of Sacrifice), which is the tenth day of the month of Dhu'Al-Hijjah is greater and better of the two Muslim Feasts, (Eid-ul Adha and Eid-ul-Fitr) When Muslims all around the world perform Udhiyah (Sacrifice) / Qurbani, the slaughtering of an acceptable animal to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's (A.S) Intended sacrifice of his son Prophet Ismail (A.S.).
Udhiyah (sacrifice) / Qurbani, is not only an act of submission to the Command of Allah but also means of bringing joy and happiness to poor and needy section of the Muslim community and is Wajib as confirmed by Quran & Sunnah
The Messenger of Allah is reported to have said to his daughter, “O Fatimah! Rise to go towards your ‘sacrifice’, and be present there. Without doubt your previous sins shall be pardoned as the first drop of the sacrificial animal falls on the ground.”
