Those who (in charity) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." (Al-Quran, 2:274)

The Festival of Sacrifice/ Eid-ul-Adha

Eid-ul-Adha is an Islamic festival which is celebrated on 10th to 12th zul Hajj, the 12th month of the lunar calendar.

Eid-ul- Adha is celebrated to commemorate the occasion when the prophet of Allah Hazrat Ibrahim was willing to sacrifice his Son Hazrat Ismail to show his obedience to Allah. Prophet of Allah Hazrat Ibrahim didn’t hesitate to offer the sacrifice of His son to fulfill the commandments of Allah. Eid-ul- Adha is also known as a “Festival of Sacrifice”.

Eid-ul-Adha is a three days long festival. Men, women, and children are expected to dress in their finest clothing and perform prayer in a large congregation called as Eid Ghah (worshiping place for Eid). Muslims, who can afford to do so, sacrifice domestic animals, usually sheep, cow, goat and camel etc. as a symbol of Ibraham's sacrifice.

The meat is equally distributed amongst themselves, their neighbors and relatives, and the poor and hungry. The regular charitable practices of the Muslim community are demonstrated during Eid-ul-Adha by the concerted effort to see that no impoverished Muslim is left without sacrificial food during this day. Coming immediately after the Day of Mount Arafat when Messenger of Allah Hazrat Muhammad Peace be upon Him pronounced the final seal on the religion of Islam, Eid-ul-Adha gives concrete realization to what the Muslim community means in practice. People in these days are expected to visit their relatives, starting from their parents, then their families and friends.

Great and certain rewards are promised by Allah and His Prophet Muhammad Peace Be upon Him for those Muslims who perform sacrifice on the occasion of Eid-ul Adha.

The Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Peace be upon Him said;

"For every hair on the sacrificial animal, a reward will be recorded for the person making the Qurbani." (Ibn-e- Majah)
